Anne De Gelas
Following the success of Mère et fils (published in 2018), Loco is happy to be collaborating once again with Brussels-based artist Anne De Gelas for the reissue of her book L’Amoureuse, published in 2013 by Le Caillou Bleu and unobtainable since.
L’amoureuse is Anne de Gelas’ autobiographical chronicle of the great pain of grieving the loss of the loved one. This story mixes journal’s extracts, photographs (self-portraits, portraits of her son, still-lives…) and sketches, a composition characteristic of the style of such a singular artist.
“T. my lover, the father of my son, passed away on April 5th 2010 from a stroke. He fell next to us on a North Sea beach. The violence of his death left me with a great void… a silence which echoed in my head with an intense blue sky without a plane due to the ashes of a volcano’s anger, my anger. Faced with this loss, I immersed myself in my daily diary work which I’ve been doing for over 10 years, writing down my suffering but also the overflow of life that was bubbling up inside me.”
L’Amoureuse, 21 x 29,7 cm, 96 pages, quadrichromy printing, paperback with flaps, sewn-and-glued sections.
